Abstract

Integrating Distributed Generation (DG) based on renewable energy sources such as Photovoltaic (PV), has become one of the government's priorities in the use of clean energy on a large scale. Since the radial power system is not completely prepared for high injection of PV-DG, the optimization method has to be applied to PV-DG. This paper aims to find the optimal location and size of the PV-DG to improve the voltage profile using the Biogeography-Based Optimization algorithm (BBOA). Due to the voltage problems occurs more at low voltage in nature than the high voltage, BBOA is implemented on the 10, 69, 85, and 118 bus IEEE distribution systems using the MATLAB code. The results of this study show that the voltage profiles in all different power systems are improved.
